Kindling helps dads build connection with their sons through guided lessons, shared challenges, encouragement, and real-life conversation.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Kindling collects, how we use it, what dads and sons can see, and how users can contact us about privacy or account deletion.
If you have questions, contact us at support@heykindling.com.
1. Who We Are
Kindling is operated by Known Digital Agency.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Kindling,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Kindling app, website, and related services.
2. Who Kindling Is For
Kindling is designed for dads and father figures who want to build stronger connection with their sons through intentional lessons and conversations.
Son accounts are intended for users who are 13 years old or older. Sons are asked to confirm that they are 13 or older before creating or joining an account.
Dad accounts are responsible for inviting sons and confirming that they are the parent, legal guardian, or otherwise have permission to invite the son to use Kindling.
Kindling is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without appropriate permission, please contact us at support@heykindling.com so we can review and delete the account if needed.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to operate Kindling, connect family members, provide lessons, track progress, and support users.

4. Freeform Notes and Reflections
Kindling does not currently collect or store freeform private son notes, journals, or private written reflections.
Earlier versions of the app included legacy private-note structures, but those have been removed from the active product.
Kindling may store limited structured lesson interaction data, such as:
Whether a lesson step was completed
Whether a lesson was completed
Reflection blocks that a son highlighted
Other progress or interaction data needed to operate the lesson experience
A son’s typed quote in the quote-typing step is used locally in the app experience and is not stored as quote text.
5. What Dad Can See
Dad can see information needed to support the family experience, including:
Sons connected to the family
Current, shared, and completed lessons
Lesson progress
Completed lesson steps
Wins given to the son
Resources the son shares with Dad
Movie Shelf activity connected to the family or son
Dad does not receive freeform private son journal entries because Kindling does not currently collect those.
Kindling currently stores structured reflection highlight selections, but the active Dad experience does not display an individual son’s highlight selections as a primary feature.
6. What Son Can See
A Son account can see:
Lessons shared with him
His own lesson progress
Wins he has received
Resources he has shared
Movie Shelf content connected to him or the family
Account, legal, support, and settings information
A Son account is intended to access only his own family-connected experience.
7. Family and Invite Code Information
Kindling uses invite codes to connect a son to a family.
We may store:
Family records
Family membership records
Child or son records
Invite codes
Invite status, such as invited or joined
Connection between a Son account and the family that invited him
Invite codes are used so a son can join the correct family account.
8. Lesson Progress and Activity
Kindling stores lesson activity so Dad and Son can use the app together.
This may include:
Which lesson was selected
Whether a lesson was shared
Whether a lesson was completed
Which lesson steps were marked complete
Progress toward lesson completion
Connection or conversation steps marked complete
Reflection highlights selected by a son
Kindling does not verify whether a user actually watched a video, read external content, or completed an offline activity. The app tracks what users mark, open, complete, or interact with inside the app.
9. Wins and Encouragement
Kindling includes a feature called Wins. Dad can give Wins to a son to recognize effort, growth, responsibility, courage, kindness, or other meaningful moments.
A Win may include:
Family information
Son or child information
Dad who gave the Win
Category
Reason
Note
Amount
Date or timestamp
Wins are visible inside the family experience. They are not public profiles, public achievements, or social media posts.
10. Shared Resources
Sons may share resources with Dad, such as a link, title, note, or resource type.
Dads may also add or customize resources in some parts of the app.
Shared resources are intended to be visible only within the family context. They are not public.
Users should not submit illegal, harmful, abusive, explicit, or infringing content.
11. Movie Shelf
Kindling may include a Movie Shelf feature with recommended movies, family-added movies, hidden recommendations, and watched status.
We may store:
Official movie recommendations
Custom family movie entries added by Dad
Watched status for a son
Recommendations hidden by Dad
Movie Shelf information is used to support family conversation and lesson planning.
12. External Links and Third-Party Content
Kindling may link to third-party content, including:
YouTube videos
Video thumbnails

Books, movies, podcasts, or other recommended resources
TestFlight, App Store, or app install links
Email links for support, feedback, or deletion requests
When you open a third-party link, you may leave Kindling. The third party’s privacy policy and terms apply to your use of that third-party service.
Kindling does not control third-party websites, YouTube, Apple, or external content providers.
